Getting Organised in a Shabby Chic Way.

So thanks to Mr Postman I am now ready to put my vintage clothes out for sale at where I work on weekends! If all goes well I'll put some items on Etsy as well for you lot that can't access the real shop! Yay or nay?

Anyway, I spent all day yesterday getting my clothes hangers ready. This is how they were when they arrived in the post...

Perfectly acceptable and usable but not pretty... So I turned them into these...

Hello colourful and shabby chic hangers! Perfect for hanging vintage clothes on! I can't believe it took all day though... Eurgh. I'm so happy with them though! I didn't know whether to decorate them with polkadot sand floral patterns but I'll leave them as they are for now...

I'm currently making the wrap dress pattern of this...

But I decided what I'm going to use my blue fabric for as well because that will be my next project! I like to be organised!

Yep, I'm gonna make this awesome 1940s playsuit out of the fabric! I've had this sewing pattern since last summer and have been looking for the ideal fabric to use for it and now I've found it! I've just got to size the sewing pattern down by one size and then I can start cutting out! Watch this space. ;-D If anyone would like a tutorial on re-sizing sewing patterns, then comment below!

Oh, and this also came in the post today...

OMG, isn't is the best?! I've been hunting down the original of this sewing pattern for months! And I've finally got my hands on it! I'm planning on buying some psychedelic paisley print fabric I saw last week to make this out of! Wouldn't that be just fabulous?! Anyway, here's today's outfit...

Polkadots and Bows!

One of the sewing projects that has been sitting in my "to finish" pile has been a 1950s reproduction blouse. I made a plain white version of it a few months ago for a job interview and liked the fit and style so much that I wanted to make a more colourful and fun version. So here it is!

I took these buttons off another 1950s reproduction top I made a couple of years ago out of exactly the same fabric. However I don't wear it much but hopefully this blouse will get more attention from me!

I used this 1950s sewing pattern, which I bought a few months ago for £1.50 from a local antiques shop.

It's such an easy to follow sewing pattern as well! I fell in love with the rounded collar detail immediately! I much prefer them to the usual pointed collars!

Purchases of the Day.

After work today I managed to have time to pop into one of the local charity shops and picked up some real bargains!

Pretty 1980s brooch for 75p!

Andddd 25 vintage sewing patterns! They were selling for 50p each but I got them for 25p each! A mixture of 1940s, 1950s and 1960s! A lot of them are children ones but as everyone knows I am very organised... Haha! I mean, look how cute these ones are!

And here's today's outfit.

A Little Bit of Luxury.

I've been working on this sewing project for quite a while. It's been an on and off thing because of lack of spare time and being able to get to my sewing area. But it's finally finished and I can now show you a little secret...

I used this late 1940s Butterick sewing pattern that I've had in my collection for about a year now and it's just been waiting for the perfect fabric.

So here we have the front of the night gown. I went for an emerald green polyester satin material to compliment my red hair.

The front in more detail. Lots of top stitching!

And this is the back. It has a low v and ties with ribbons at the waist to accentuate and pull in the waist (always a must for me!)

I'm really pleased with the final product. It's not too tight so is comfortable enough to wear in bed and lounge around on lazy Sunday mornings and still look glamorous! I decided to not make the matching bed jacket because I have a 1950s dressing gown sewing pattern that I want to use to replace my modern leopard print dressing gown...

Night all!

Time off...

So I now have about 4 weeks off from my weekday job of school cleaning 'cos of the summer break so I actually get to do more of what I love for a bit, sewing! Here's a sneak peak into my first sewing project for this break... I'm going to be using this 1940s wrap dress sewing pattern and am going to be making the shorter version on the right. I'm making it out of that red fabric (I think a 1940s original) and the white fabric on the right is going to be used for the collar and the tie belt.

I'm currently finishing up another sewing project which I will post photos of in the next few days! Stay tuned folks... Here's yesterday's outfit.
