Sewing like crazy.

I managed to complete my jumpsuit toile. Hurrah!

It turned out OK, but it was only a toile, so I didn't do it to perfection. However, I'm pleased with the design. It's not particularly something that I would wear. I think the only type of jumpsuit I'd wear would be this...

SO MAKING THE ONE ON THE LEFT! Too cute! ;-D

Oh, and I learnt how to draft my own patterns on the dress stand. :-D So much easier than just using 2D pattern paper and trying to figure out how to adjust it! I say 2D because by using calico and wrapping it around the dress stand, you can see how it looks for real.

Definitely want to try making my own patterns using this method! (The calico pattern is transferred onto pattern paper to use for cutting the final fabric with.

I'm also trying to come up with final wallpaper designs. Gah! Monday's module is absolutely crazy at the moment! Stress...

Forgot How Much I Dislike Essays...

So I recieved my mark back for the presentation I did recently. Was higher than I was expecting to be honest! I just hope I get a high mark on my essay too! I would definitely dislike having to re-do that... -_-

But something more interesting than essays is wallpaper! ;-) I know, I'm too cool. After a week of painting, I finally managed to make my wallpaper samples more interesting and "intense".

Overall I'm pleased with the results. Although as usual, I prefer certain ones over others. For instance, my favourites are the second and fourth one. :-D
For my inspiration I've been looking at SO MANY books from my local library (some of them are definitely going on my Christmas list! ;-) )

I'm trying to be as vintage as I can and not use the internet for research. It's going OK for Monday's module, but I had to use both for my essay. This is because I've found loads of books on wallpaper but not as many on "fashion and art". I also didn't have time to read books properly so it was a case of flicking through and hoping to find answers!

Oh, and I tried to make a jumpsuit in a "college day" (just over 5 hours - excluding breaks). It was pretty intense. I kinda failed in completing it because I've still got to sew in the zip and neaten up a few seams and hems. Not sure exactly when this will happen. I'm hoping next Monday... Photos will hopefully be taken when I have completed it... If I remember, that is. :-P Although we are going to be doing a photoshoot for them (along our chosen wallpaper designs as the background). I'm kind of panicking about this because the only photos I take are of cats and cake... And I'm not sure exactly how the wallpapering is happening/WHAT THE HECK AM I GOING TO DECIDE FOR A FINAL DESIGN?!

...Hopefully it wil all come together in the end... Hopefully...

Sew For Victory Outfit Complete!

So you already know about the blouse that I made a while ago for this sew-along, but I decided to make a skirt to go with it!

Ta-da!

It's not my usual 1950s circle skirt style, but I wanted a bit of a change. So I used this 1940s Simpicity sewing pattern...

Isn't it the cutest thing ever?!

Oh, and I used this 1940s Simplicity sewing pattern to make the blouse (I forgot to mention in the post about the mentioned blouse!)

Here's the blouse and the skirt together...

The first time I've made a complete outfit and I can say I'm pretty proud of it. :-D I reckon coral is going to be "my colour" for this year. I've got quite a bit left of the coral fabric I used for the skirt, so I think I'm going to make a matching blouse to wear as a smart and light summer suit! Like this but less awesomely printed. :-P

Anyway, I need to get uni work done before I even begin to think about another sewing project! Shall write another blog post soon to let you all know what uni work that is specifically. Some more exciting than others! ;-P
